Israel's healthcare system is a unique blend of mandatory national health insurance and competition among non-profit providers. Every citizen has equal access to services, including hospitalization, prescriptions, and mental health care. The government, through taxes, covers most of the costs, but there is a small out-of-pocket expense for certain treatments and medications. Four main health insurance organizations, called "sick funds", provide care and patients can choose their preferred one. Overall, it's a system that manages to balance affordability, quality, and choice quite effectively.
